"Kids adore the friends they've made on Nickelodeon and our newest products not only enable them to live out the on-air adventures of our characters at home, but they also give kids friends they can relate to on all levels," said Leigh Anne Brodsky, Executive Vice President, Consumer Products, Nickelodeon. "Nickelodeon characters have resonated with kids of all ages and across many different media platforms from movies and TV to books and video games."
Nickelodeon has ranked as the number-one-rated cable network for nine consecutive years, with many of the best and most popular characters for kids. It operates the largest TV-based licensing business in the world with $4 billion in retail sales projected for this year. The company is particularly proud of the assortment of product available for Holiday 2004, including:
FOR PRESCHOOLERS:
What can Blue do? She can talk and dance! Straight out of Blue's Room, Sing and Boogie Blue will have kids singing and dancing, too, as she talks, sings and does her new signature dance. When kids press her right hand, Blue really shakes her thing, singing and swinging her hips and arms from side to side. Kids can also press Blue's left hand to talk, play and pretend with her. Named one of Toy Wishes' "All Stars," Sing and Boogie Blue comes complete with an exclusive interactive video featuring her talking debut in the "Legend of the Blue Puppy" episode, plus two segments for kids to play an interactive game or learn Blue's new dance ... "The Blue!" (Fisher-Price, SRP: $24.99)
Also named a Toy Wishes "All Star," Dora the Explorer's Talking Dollhouse is a uniquely styled home with a focus on family that incorporates bilingual phrases. The house unfolds to reveal an adobe style, open play space that can be expanded to seven rooms simply by raising the roof. It's chockfull of interactive play areas featuring electronic sounds, music and lights including a working doorbell, a refrigerator with a real light, an oven timer, a fold- down table, a couch, a radio that really plays music and a beautiful family photo that introduces Dora's family to children. The set comes complete with three poseable figures (Dora, her mom and dad). (Fisher-Price, SRP: $49.99)
Straight from the TV special introducing Fairytale Princess Dora, the new Magic Hair Fairytale Dora features the hair play fun that little girls love. Simply by waving a butterfly wand across Dora's crown, little girls can magically grow or shorten Dora's beautiful brown hair. She also says phrases encouraging girls to play along and sings a special song. While she sings, the lights on her crown twinkle. A brush and two barrettes are included for more hair play fun. (Fisher-Price, SRP: $29.99)
Dora can now wake up preschoolers with the Dora the Explorer Alarm Clock Radio, features Dora's voice, music, auto shut-off timer in addition to an AM/FM radio, digital display, and sculpted star night light. (Emerson, SRP: $14.95)
In Dora and Diego's Animal Adventure Set, Dora and her cousin Diego are ready for an exciting animal adventure with all their wildlife friends -- even Swiper the Fox! And little ones will have fun, too, as Dora helps them learn simple Spanish words, songs, and numbers. Kids just press the buttons to hear words and sounds. Plus there are plenty of fun, large pieces included, so young children can build and rebuild again and again. (Lego, SRP: $29.99)
Dora's Fairytale Adventure DVD features Dora and Boots as they go exploring in fairytale land. When Boots falls under a mean witch's spell, Dora must set out on her toughest adventure yet -- she must become a true princess to awaken Sleeping Boots! The DVD includes two bonus episodes, "What Happens Next?" and "The Magic Stick," as well as several special features, including a Sing-Along; Song Selection; a Photo Gallery; "Find the Fairytale Friends" Game and a Nick Jr. Baby Video sneak peek. (Paramount Home Video, SRP: $19.99 for DVD, $12.95 for VHS)
