Group of eBay’s Top Female Sellers Will Launch Largest Barbie® Online Charity Auction to Benefit Gilda’s Club
A group of eBay's top female PowerSellers will launch the largest Barbie® auction on eBay Thursday October 14th to benefit cancer group, Gilda's Club. The auction contains over 1,600 Barbie related items including vintage, rare and valuable Barbie dolls as well as brand new, in the box, Barbies.
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 6, 2004 -- The eBay group, The Shabby But Chic PowerSellers (http://www.sbcp.us), will launch the largest Barbie® auction ever listed on eBay, The World's Online Marketplace (Nasdaq: EBAY; http://www.ebay.com) on Thursday, October 14. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the national charity organization Gilda’s Club (http://www.gildasclub.org).
The members of this group of top female eBay PowerSellers have donated over 1,600 items for the auction. The collection contains items spanning four decades, from 1960 to 2004, including Barbie dolls, clothing accessories, vehicles, furniture, cases and houses. Bidding will begin at $0.01. The auction will launch at 8:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, October 14th and will last 10 days ending on Sunday, October 24th at 8:00 p.m. PST. You will be able to view the auction beginning October 14 at 8:00 p.m. PST by searching for the eBay seller id of: sbcp*4*charity or a link to the auction can also be found at www.ebay.com/sbcp4gildas .
The Shabby But Chic PowerSellers is a private eBay group of more than 60 members—all female eBay PowerSellers—formed in January, 2004 by fellow PowerSeller, Paula Amato of Fort Lauderdale, FL. The group members, part of eBay’s online community section, maintain a private discussion board where they discuss everything from auction strategies to chemotherapy. Members check in throughout the day to laugh, encourage one another, vent a little, or to share each other's company throughout the long days of creating eBay listings and managing their online businesses.
"It's time for us to give back to the community which has so generously given to all of us. Gilda's Club is based on community—women helping others who are struggling with cancer— and I can't think of a greater foundation to support in our first charity auction," says group founder Amato. "Gilda’s Club was selected because all of our members have been affected by cancer in one way or another, including a few members that are cancer survivors."
