Handmark(R) TRIVIAL PURSUIT Handheld Edition Wins 2004 Parents' Choice FunStuff Award
Wednesday September 22, 12:57 pm ET
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Handmark®, the leading developer and publisher of software for smart mobile devices, announced today that its TRIVIAL PURSUIT® Handheld Edition for Palm Powered and Windows Mobile handheld devices and smartphones has received a 2004 Parents' Choice Award from the Parents' Choice Foundation. The foundation gave the Handmark version of the world's most popular trivia board game a Parents' Choice FunStuff Award, signifying it as a "value priced, age-appropriate product" that is "well produced and fun" to use.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT Handheld Edition was rated suitable for players aged 10-16 by the foundation. The game features over 1,600 questions in six categories -- Sports and Leisure, Arts and Entertainment, History, Science and Nature, People and Places, and Wild Card.
The Handmark version, easily played on PDAs and smartphones, adds to the fun by supporting multi-player competition over wireless Bluetooth or IR (infrared) connection. A flash mode gives individual players a quick TRIVIAL PURSUIT fix by answering questions that move the player up a "ladder" to the "top rung."
In its official review of the product, the Parents' Choice Foundation states, "Alone, TRIVIAL PURSUIT can provide an amusing and thoughtful break from the mundane. When not alone, the entertainment factor is multiplied significantly -- even complete strangers jump in with answers." The review goes on to say that "The interface is straightforward. The software is simple to navigate. Database is large enough to maintain attention through repeated use. Entertainment value is high."
Founded in 1978, the Parents' Choice Foundation is America's oldest not-for-profit evaluator of children's products. The Foundation's purpose is "to search out and recommend products that help kids grow-imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally-fairly priced products that are fun, safe and socially sound."
Fewer than 15% of all products considered for a Parents' Choice Award are accepted for an award. Judges in the program evaluate entries according to an exacting range of criteria including production values, age appropriateness, educational flair, quality in encouraging personal growth, lack of gender bias and encouragement of non-violence.
Handmark last won a Parents' Choice award in 2001 for two products, 4.0 Student and Wordsmith PRO.
