EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2004--
Board Game and Interactive DVD Features Hilarious Skits and Characters from 30 Seasons of SNL
On Saturday Night Live, what was the Church Lady's musical instrument of choice? That is one of scores of questions presented to Trivial Pursuit fans as the game that has become an icon of pop culture introduces a new edition that focuses on another icon of pop culture: Saturday Night Live.
Trivial Pursuit(R) Saturday Night Live DVD Edition, the first Trivial Pursuit game based solely on one television show, boasts more than 2,000 questions and includes an interactive DVD that features more than 450 questions and showcases many of SNL's renowned skits and unforgettable characters throughout the show's 30-year history.
"This introduction represents a true a milestone in the history of Trivial Pursuit," said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Hasbro Games. "We've combined one of the world's favorite games with one of the all-time popular comedies. It's an exciting marriage of two powerhouses."
In the new edition of Trivial Pursuit, the actual game pieces are replicas of classic Saturday Night Live characters, including Land Shark, a Conehead, Mango, Ladies Man, a Cheerleader, Samurai, Matt Foley and Mary Katherine Gallagher. Players win a scoring wedge by going to the DVD to answer an on-screen question. Both board game and DVD questions comprise the following categories:
-- Characters
-- Impressions
-- Sketches
-- Parodies
-- SNL, etc.
-- The Show
As with all editions of Trivial Pursuit, the first player or team to collect six scoring wedges and answer the final question first, wins. But win or lose, players will enjoy the memories they are sure to experience.
"Trivial Pursuit(R) SNL DVD Edition is a wild ride through one of the funniest television shows of all time," said legendary Saturday Night Live performer Joe Piscopo, whose portrayals in the early 1980s are among the show's classic moments. "Players will delight in revisiting all the characters that lit up the TV screen every Saturday night."
The game, which is available now from Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) at the approximate retail price of $39.99, is the first licensed game revolving around Saturday Night Live, which is preparing to celebrate its 30th Anniversary.
The Trivial Pursuit game is one of the best-selling adult games in history, with more than 75 million units sold worldwide since its introduction in 1982. The Saturday Night Live DVD edition is the newest member to the current line of Trivial Pursuit(R) games that include Trivial Pursuit(R) 1990s Edition, Trivial Pursuit(R) Pop Culture DVD Edition, Trivial Pursuit(R) Lord of the Rings Edition, Trivial Pursuit(R) Disney Edition, Trivial Pursuit(R) Volume 6 Edition, and Trivial Pursuit(R) For Kids Edition.
