Stuff To The Rafters, an antiques, collectibles and ‘Items of Interest’ emporium, has reopened for the season in Richfield Springs, NY. Simultaneously, its online store (stores/sttr at tias.com) has been significantly restocked and refreshed with an array of articles likely to appeal to consumers, dealers and decorators. STTR’s range runs from advertising gewgaws through household and kitchen accessories to items ideal for gift-giving occasions. A second ‘bricks and mortar’ store is due to open later this spring.
Richfield Springs, NY (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- Stuff to the Rafters, an antiques, collectibles and ‘Items of Interest’ emporium, has reopened for the season in Richfield Springs, NY and significantly restocked and refreshed its online store (www.tias.com/stores/sttr) this month. The stores offer an array of articles likely to appeal to consumers, dealers and decorators, say co-owners Dee and Doug Harris.
They’ve also has announced plans to open a second ‘bricks and mortar’ store in Central New York.
“We’ve been shopping all winter, and we’ve got a bounty of bargains to pass along,” says Dee Harris. Doug adds, “We’ve come amazingly close to overloading our storage space and frighteningly close to emptying our bank account thanks to all the great buys we’ve made. The mild winter weather let us get out and around half a dozen states since January. We’ve dug through barns, prowled other dealers’ shops and sat through a hundred or so auctions in that time,” he declares.
STTR’s range runs from advertising gewgaws through household and kitchen accessories to items ideal for gift-giving occasions, the Harrises note. “We’ve had items from as far back as the 1600’s,” Doug Harris says, “But most of our assortment is from the early 1800’s through the 1940’s or so. We rarely offer anything but the occasional collectible more recent than the 1950’s.”
One of those exceptions is a glass cowboy hat bearing the Ralph Lauren logo.
“It’s a great Western-theme collectible piece, and it will appeal as well to collectors of advertising specialty items,” Dee Harris says. She notes that this item was listed earlier this month in the online, tias.com version of STTR, which ordinarily offers selections other than those available in the Richfield Springs store.
That facility, at 4255 U.S. Highway 20, is soon to be complemented by a Harris-run store in Masonville, NY, some 60 miles south of Richfield Springs. Masonville Antiques will occupy nearly 1000 sq. ft. of a 125-year-old house that, the Harrises say, “is ideally suited for this purpose.” Their home will occupy the balance of this 3100 sq ft. building, they note.
Its address, 15805 NY Rt. 8, is near Sidney, NY, between I-88 and NY Rt. 17. The interstate links Albany and Binghamton, NY, and Rt 17 offers the fastest path from Binghamton to New York City and, to the west, Elmira, Rochester and Buffalo.
Recent additions to the older physical store, now in its third season, include a 19th century horse-themed weathervane, a hundred-year-old stationmaster’s desk, selections of early tools, and a range of wrought iron items. That store and the online one also offer many newly-stocked decorative and practical glass items from before and beyond the depression era, large assortments of Victorian post cards, photographs and advertising art, 19th and 20th century scrapbooks with fascinating contents, and dinnerware of silver, silverplate and pewter. Additionally, both stores are constantly replenishing their offerings of vintage and costume jewelry.
The Richfield Springs store opens every day but Tuesday and by appointment. Specifics are available by calling 315-858-0211. From just before Memorial Day, the Masonville store will open every day and at least two evenings weekly.
